As is normally the scenario all through the period, the Seattle Seahawks have made another 53-person roster/practice squad move. The Seahawks announced on Wednesday that they have signed wide receiver Cody White off of the practice squad and released cornerback Shaquill Griffin, who was subsequently signed to the practice squad to fill the spot that White had just vacated.

Because Griffin is a vested veteran, he does not need to clear waivers before being added back to the practice squad. This move is the inverse of what the team did last week, when they released White, placed him on the practice squad, and signed Griffin to the 53-man roster.

The move of adding White back to the 53-man roster may indicate that the Seahawks feel comfortable with their depth at cornerback this week, despite Devon Witherspoon being held out of practice on Wednesday. Earlier this week, head coach Mike Macdonald noted that Witherspoon, who is more familiar with the system, would not necessarily need to practice in order to suit up against the New Orleans Saints.

However, even if Witherspoon is unable to play Sunday, the Seahawks could simply elevate Griffin to the https://www.seattlesportsshop.com/seattle-seahawks-jamie-sheriff-jersey active roster to bolster depth at the position. The added benefit of swapping Griffin and White on and off the practice squad is that it resets the three times a player can be elevated from the practice squad before needing to be signed to the 53-man roster.

Griffin technically has zero gameday elevations despite previously being elevated to the active roster during his first practice squad stint.
