Forza Horizon 6’s move to Japan brought plenty of incredible JDM legends to the roster, but if there is one car you absolutely need to add to your garage, it is the 1998 Nissan R390 (GT1). This street-legal homologation special is a certified beast in the S1 class, but you won't find it listed on the Autoshow when you start the game.
The Nissan R390 GT1 is exclusive to a Barn Find. If you are wondering how to trigger the rumor, what campaign level you need, or where to find the actual barn, here is a complete breakdown to get it unlocked.
Unlock Requirements: Getting the Purple Stamp
You can't just drive out into the hills and hope to find the car right away. If you visit the barn location before hitting the proper campaign milestone, the game simply won't let you interact with it.
To trigger the barn rumor, you need to progress through the Discover Japan campaign.
Required Rank: Level 6 (The "Adventurer" level).
The Key Item: Reaching Level 6 unlocks the campaign's Purple Stamp.
If you want to level up your Discover Japan rank quickly to unlock this tier, focus on grinding points across the map. The fastest ways to do this include:
Completing the yellow map marker story missions.
Running touge and road races around the map.
Smashing regional mascots hidden throughout the world.
Finishing food delivery side missions.
Buying player houses.
Once you hit Level 6 and grab that Purple Stamp, the radio rumor will trigger, and the white Barn Find search circle will finally appear on your map.
Barn Location: Where to Find It
The Nissan R390 is hidden away in the Ohtani region, which sits in the far southwestern corner of the Horizon Japan map.
Once you are in the area, follow these exact steps to pin it down:
Fast travel or drive over to the Bridge Underpasses Trailblazer gate.
Right to the left of the Trailblazer gate, look for an off-road dirt trail that splits off into the woods. It is marked by two white signs.
Follow this dirt path as it winds up into the hills. The trail leads directly to the hidden barn tucked away in the trees.
Vehicle Specs and Restoration
Once you trigger the cutscene, the R390 will be sent to your garage for repairs.
Base Stats (S1 774)
Out of the box, the car drops into the mid-S1 class with a rear-wheel-drive (RWD) layout. It is highly competitive for S1 road racing right from the jump, boasting a very solid balance of top speed and handling:
Speed: 7.1
Handling: 6.6
Acceleration: 6.2
Braking: 6.6
Launch: 3.1
The Restoration Wait
Because it is a legendary supercar, the restoration process takes some time. Expect to wait anywhere from two to six hours of real-time gameplay for the mechanics to finish fixing it up.
While the game gives you the option to spend hard-earned credits to bypass the timer and get instant access from the Barn Finds menu, it is usually a better idea to save your cash. Just go tackle a few seasonal championships or online races, and before you know it, you will get the notification that your R390 GT1 is shiny, rebuilt, and ready to hit the tarmac.
