Forza Horizon 6 officially launches on May 19, 2026, set in a vibrant, fictionalized Japan. While High Contrast Mode is mainly an accessibility feature, it also helps any player improve visual clarity and reaction time during fast races.

High Contrast Mode Features

High Contrast Mode makes it easier to focus on important elements in the game:

Object Highlighting: Key elements like road signs, track markers, and trees are highlighted in bright, distinct colors. This makes it easier to navigate tight turns and crowded streets.

Background Desaturation: Non-essential scenery such as distant buildings, trees, or neon signs is toned down, reducing visual clutter so highlighted elements stand out.

Car Customization: Your car can be set to a solid, vivid color, making it easier to track during chaotic races or convoys.

Xbox Performance Tips

For smooth gameplay while using High Contrast Mode, adjust your Xbox settings:

Use Performance Mode: On Xbox Series X, Performance Mode runs at dynamic 4K and 60fps, while on Series S it runs at 1080p and 60fps. The higher frame rate is better than higher resolution for racing, giving more responsive controls and smoother visuals.

TV Calibration: If colors look too dark or “crushed,” go to Settings → General → TV & display options → Calibrate HDR for games to adjust brightness and contrast for your display.

Enable Game Mode: Turn on your TV’s Game Mode to reduce input lag. Quick reactions are critical in high-speed Japan-themed races.

Quality Mode Option: If you prefer visuals over responsiveness, Series X can run native 4K at 30fps, and Series S at 1440p at 30fps, but this will reduce smoothness during intense races.

High Contrast Mode isn’t just for accessibility—it’s a tool to sharpen focus and reaction times. Pair it with Performance Mode and proper TV calibration to make the most of Forza Horizon 6’s fast-paced streets. You’ll see obstacles and markers clearly, giving you a real edge on the track.
