Which IDs Are Accepted for TM SIM Registration in 2026?

Any unexpired, government-issued photo ID on Globe’s accepted list works for TM SIM registration, and that list includes the National ID, passport, driver’s license, UMID, SSS, PRC, postal, BIR TIN, and PhilHealth cards. The dropdown inside the official portal has the final say, so treat it as the live source rather than any blog post, including this one.
What trips people up in TM SIM registration is rarely the type of ID. It is the format. Globe’s own help page recommends PVC-type cards for smoother processing and warns that paper IDs, or cards with printed photos, may not be accepted. It has also said that newer versions of the PRC, postal, and SSS IDs were not yet supported, so an older version might be the one that goes through. Guidance like that changes, which is why checking the portal on the day you register beats trusting anything written months earlier.
Expiry is the other classic reason a submission fails. A card that lapsed last month will not pass, even if the photo still looks exactly like you. Lay the ID flat in even light, keep glare off the hologram, show all four edges, and photograph the original instead of a screenshot or photocopy. Then type your name, birth date, and address exactly as printed, because the system compares those fields with the card and flags any mismatch in your TM SIM registration.
People without a primary ID often ask whether TM SIM registration will take school IDs, birth certificates, or barangay certificates. Some channels accept supporting documents in specific cases, but that is the uncertain corner, and the portal’s prompts decide. If you hold no accepted ID at all, a Globe Store can tell you what it can take for TM SIM registration in person. For a minor, the parent or guardian’s ID is used instead, since the SIM is registered under the adult’s name.
Two smaller points save a retry. First, Globe accepts the National ID in plastic, paper, and digital versions, yet it recommends PVC-type cards for smoother processing, so use the plastic card if you have a choice. Second, one ID can cover several SIMs, but each SIM needs its own registration, so finishing your main number does not cover a backup line. Worried about handing over your ID? The law treats registration data as confidential and requires telcos to keep records for years after deactivation, which is why you should upload only on the official portal, in the GlobeOne app, or at a store, and never through a link someone sends you.
I would keep the TM SIM registration guide open in another tab, since it pairs the ID rules with screenshots of each step and a table of common upload errors. Use it beside the official portal, not instead of it. Rules shift and individual cases vary, so for anything unusual, such as a damaged card or a freshly renewed ID, ask Globe support or a store before submitting, because no approval can be promised.
